A plain description of what we store and why.
Your focus sessions — start and end times, the task preset you chose, an optional 60-character note about what you're working on, and aggregate cheer counts. That's the whole product.
We never store your raw IP address. When you start a session, we look up an approximate city from your IP address at that moment, keep only the resulting city name and coordinates, and discard the address immediately.
The world map is opt-in and off by default, and only available to signed-in users — guests never appear on it. No dot is ever drawn for fewer than 3 people in the same area; if there aren't enough people nearby, you're folded into a wider, still-anonymous group. Turning map visibility off in your settings removes your dot on the next refresh.
Guests are identified by a signed cookie holding a random identifier, and nothing else. No name, no email, no location.
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages are visited and how people found Besidey. Google Analytics cookies are enabled by default and may store a randomly generated identifier so visits can be counted across pages and sessions. Advertising signals and ad personalisation are disabled, and we do not send your name, email address, focus-task text, or account identifier to Google.
Deleting your account removes your sessions, your derived location, your stats, your weekly insights, and your cheers. There's no soft delete and nothing left behind.
No chat, no profiles, no selling your data, and no personalised advertising.
City-level location lookups are provided by DB-IP, used under a CC-BY licence.
